The Cleveland Browns received some bad news before the final roster cuts: Defensive end Chris Odom will miss the entire 2022 season after suffering a torn ACL.

Odom left the Browns’ preseason finale against the Chicago Bears (a 21-20 Chicago victory) with a knee injury. Per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Browns head coach Kevin Stefansi confirmed that Odom tore his ACL.

“Was a very, very good pass rusher,” Stefanski said, per Cabot. “Had a knack for it. Did a nice job in practice. Had some good moments in these preseason games. Very, very disappointed for him.”

Odom turned heads with a sensational 2022 season for the Houston Gamblers of the USFL, recording 12.5 sacks en route to Defensive Player of the Year honors. The 27-year-old Arkansas product signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

Barring any setbacks, mobile Ohio sports betting apps will launch in early Jan. 2023 after a long wait. These sportsbooks will be offering welcome bonuses and promos to new customers upon signing up, including risk-free wagers from apps like Caesars and BetMGM.

If the Browns make the playoffs, Cleveland fans will have the opportunity to bet on their team through the 2022-23 NFL postseason. The Browns, without Deshaun Watson for the first 11 games of 2022, are +3000 to win the Super Bowl at FanDuel and +5000 at DraftKings.

Odom also played for the Salt Lake Stallions of the now-defunct Alliance of American Football and the Calgary Stampeders of the CFL. He played seven games for the Green Bay Packers in 2017 and four for Washington in 2019 (two sacks).

Browns Release Former First-Round Pick Josh Rosen

The Browns have released quarterback Josh Rosen as they continue trimming down the roster to 53 players.

In July, the Browns signed the Arizona Cardinals’ 2018 first-round pick. Rosen, Joshua Dobbs, and Jacoby Brissett (the Browns’ current starter) were the three QBs on the depth chart with the aforementioned Deshaun Watson suspended. Rosen was drafted 10th overall by the Cardinals in the deep 2018 class. But the Redbirds gave up on Rosen after just one season and elected to take Kyler Murray with the first overall pick in 2019, making the UCLA product expendable. Rosen was traded to the Miami Dolphins soon after, but veteran journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick beat him out for the main starting role. Rosen spent part of the 2020 season on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad before joining the San Francisco 49ers. Shortly before the start of the 2021 season, the Atlanta Falcons signed Rosen to back up Matt Ryan. He saw minimal action over four games last year, completing two of 11 pass attempts for 19 yards and two interceptions. The Browns signed Brissett after acquiring Watson in a trade with the Houston Texans. Watson isn’t eligible to return until Cleveland’s Week 12 game, fittingly against Watson’s former team. There was speculation that Cleveland would trade for San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, now that Trey Lance has taken over the starting job. But Garoppolo agreed to a reworked contract that keeps him in San Fran for the time being.

Myles Garrett Named NFL’s No. 11 Player For 2022

The complete 2022 edition of the “NFL Top 100” rankings has been revealed.

Every year, the NFL reveals a list of the top 100 players before the start of the upcoming regular season. The rankings are based on the votes from NFL players, and Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett came in at No. 11. The No. 1 pick of the 2017 NFL Draft has emerged as the franchise face of the Browns. The three-time Pro Bowler is coming off a career year in which he logged 16 sacks, three pass defenses, one forced fumble, and 51 tackles. Garrett came in at No. 16 on the top 100 players for 2021, a massive jump from the No. 80 ranking for 2020. He was one of five Cleveland players to make the list, along with running back Nick Chubb (33), guard Joel Bitonio (55), guard Wyatt Teller (83), and cornerback Denzel Ward (87). Through his first five seasons, Garrett racked up 58.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, 11 forced fumbles, and nine pass defenses. He was vital in helping the Browns end an 18-year playoff drought in 2020, and they defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card Round for their first postseason win in 26 years. Once again, Garrett should be in the running for the Defensive Player of the Year award. T.J. Watt of the Steelers is the reigning DPOY.
