On Wednesday, folk singer-songwriter, 71-years old John Prine collected the artist of the year award for the 2nd time in a series at the America Music Honors and Awards. Jason Isbell received 3 awards, including his album marked as the album of the year. Prine has been a leader of the American generation. He released his album Tree of Forgiveness during the current year. It has been considered his first collection with new and perfect material for the last 13 years.

Prine owns his own record label in Nashville and mailing his records directly to his fans. Isbell was the leading nominee and he won the song of the year to his band group (400 Unit) for his song “If We Were Vampires”. His most categories were considered favorite to win and he was nominated for “The Nashville Sound” (his Grammy-winning record). He also credited his band group members and Amanda Shires (his wife, who plays fiddle in the band and sings with Prine.

The Instrumentalist of the Year award was collected by the only one woman to win an award, Molly Tuttle (player of bluegrass banjo). Tyler Childers was nominated as the emerging artist of the year. The Free Speech award (Spirit of Americana) received by Rosanne Cash. She is the daughter of Johnny Cash (country icon) and received various standing applauses during her speech and performance. Lifetime achievement awards were reached to Soul singer Irma Thomas, K.D. Lang, and Bluesman Buddy Guy.

K.D. Lang is celebrating the 25th anniversary of her album ‘Ingenue’. She told about her love with country singer such as Patsy Cline. Lang received the award in the Ryman Auditorium of the famous Mother Church of Country Music. She said that it will be an honor for her to be in this temple of great music.

Irma Thomas presented her classic, ‘Time Is On My Side’ and joked that she has become young again after receiving a lifetime achievement award. She added that she is at 77 but now feeling like a 14 years old teen. Thomas said. Buddy Guy also received lifetime achievement award. He said that he was inspired by watching performers during the show. Cris Williamson and Judy Dlugacz were also honored with lifetime achievement awards, both are founders of Olivia Records.
