When host Martha MacCallum was going to end her interview with White House counselor Kellyanne Conway on Fox News, Conway sang Taylor Swift’s song to make her case against the LGBTQ Equality Act. This interview conducted on Fox News on Tuesday night.
MacCallum brought a message conveyed by Taylor Swift for the Trump White House on MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night during her speech.
At Award show, “Lover” album singer accepted an award for her pro-LGBTQ+ rights anthem “You Need to Calm Down,” She also told that she supports the Equality Act Bill. Democratic-led House has already passed this bill, but now it requires a vote in the Senate.
“It now has half a million signatures, which is five times the amount that it would need to warrant a response from the White House,” Swift said from the stage.MacCallum played a video message of Taylor for her guest who watched this video and said,
“I would love to survey the audience if they know what that even is, what the Equality Act even is. But she’s welcome to have her opinion.”
MacCallum explained for her guest, “The LGBTQ community believes it would give them greater equality in the workplace and elsewhere.”
Instead of replying to her host Conway said that she like the song for which singer won an award. With a smile on her face, she further said, I can sing it for you. If you say it on the street, that’s a knockout / If you put it in a tweet, that’s a cop-out.”
“I love that,” Conway added while adding a bit of sarcastic element in her next statement. “That is Washington in a nutshell.”
Conway thinks that Hollywood singers are getting political, and she specifically mention Swift. The host quickly jumped with a vital question.
: “Can you give her one answer for why the White House doesn’t support the Equality Act?”
“The president and the White House support equality,” Conway insisted. “We don’t support pieces of legislation that have poison pills in it that can harm other people. When something is named something, it’s not always indeed that.
At this point, we seriously need a definition of Poison pills because it is a kind of confusion. What do you say?
