Jonathan Van Ness is a Queer eye star and advocate who writes about sexually assaulted as a child, having sex with older men, battling drug addiction and also diagnosed with HIV.
His interview published in the New York Times Saturday and Van Ness talked about his book named”Over the Top: a Raw Journey to Self Love.” He discloses particular things publically.
Van Nees said with tears,” I have nightmares with the past three months and scared to be vulnerable with people.”
The painful life started when an older boy from the church abused him. Van Ness called in the beginning “compounded trauma.” Van Nees described himself as a little baby queen who raised in a most supportive home in Quincy, Illinois.
He also told New York Times that he stood for the wrong reasons such as in high school he was too fat, too femme, roo unloveable and too loud.”
Furthermore, he explained that he spent his expense on cocaine at the University of Arizona, and after running out the money, he advertised sex for cash.
Well, he also flunked out from school and then joined the hairdresser course. He had two rehab stints after a couple he met on Grindr introduced him to methamphetamine.
The most devastating news of my life at only 25 years old that I have HIV positive in my blood. But I consider myself a member of the beautiful HIV positive community.
Moreover, Van said he has been cleared from hard drugs for years but still using marijuana. He said in the interview that he wants to realize the people that you are never too broken to be fixed.
Van Ness is a grooming expert and one of the Fab Five on Netflix’s “Queer Eye” that shows a person’s ability to be so vulnerable get back on their feet after a setback.
