The Senate of America can be divided politically, but they showed their unity on one topic. The U.S Congress declared bourbon as the “Native Spirit of America” in 1964. This decision made it the only outstanding spirit to the United States. The U.S Senate also declared the month of September as “National Bourbon Heritage Month” on August 2, 2007. This bill was presented by Republican Senator Jim Bunning (from Kentucky).
The first settlers of Kentucky started the bourbon-making process in the 1700s. Now the native spirit of America is enjoying reappearance and produced in the entire 50 U.S States. Since 1991, the city of Bardstown, Kentucky is hosting the Kentucky Bourbon Festival every September. This month is dedicated to celebrating the history and art of extracting Bourbon whiskey.
