Its Labor Day weekend so the Ontario Federation of Labor has prepared a seven-question assessment for you. This quiz is to text how much you know about your workplace rights. It’s open to all residents of the Ontario province to test their knowledge online here. You will learn about a lot of the advances made in the last year via the quiz.
OFL and their partners in the community such as Fight for $15 and Fairness are making sure the improvements in labor rights that were won in the year remain protected. Ontario is the first Canadian jurisdiction that allows paid sick days of leave and emergency leave without worry of losing your job for everyone in the workplace. There’s been more benefits realized including equal pay for everyone whether you work full or part time. There’s been better work scheduling to maintain a good work-life balance. You can join unions with much ease in most sectors using certification via cards.
The $14 minimum wage has been welcomed by Ontarian workers and hoping it increases by a dollar come January 1 next year. Workers have benefited from better disposable income, opportunities in the market, and general life stability. Lives of workers have improved so this Labor Day is the time to celebrate the achievements made and even those to be realized in the future.
