The podcast industry has also stepped into launching its own award show. iHeartMedia is chosen to host inauguration of iHeartRadio Podcast Awards in January. It would be a live show of 90-minute in Los Angeles at the iHeartRadio. This will be the first live awards show about podcasting and listeners will choose the winners.

So all the people who usually follow free podcast videos and remain active on the podcast website. Start thinking who would win the first podcast awards.

Further, Charlemagne that God will also co-host The Breakfast Club‘s, a 90-minute event together with Stuff You Missed in History Class co-host Holly Frey while Bobby Bones the country radio personality.

The ceremony’s live stream will be tapped as a host by Mario Lopez. Payne Lindsey Up and Vanished host will be included as presenters along with Disgraceland‘s Jake Brennan and Lore creator Aaron Mahnke.

The president of iHeartMedia’s podcasting division Conal Byrne said, “Podcasting has roared onto the audio scene, creating the most excitement since the advent of streaming music services. The iHeartRadio Podcast Awards will provide a forum to celebrate the high-caliber, creative content that has made podcasting a major new audio category — and that truly reflects America’s favorite podcasts, voted by the listeners themselves. We look forward to hosting this transformative, annual event and encouraging everyone in the podcasting industry to push the envelope and inspire even more creators in this space.”

There will be 22 categories of award distribution, on which 17 will be voted by fans. In over five categories winners will be decided by the blue-ribbon panel based on industry figures of podcasts. The categories include breakout podcast, podcast of the year, best social impact from podcast/host, best-branded podcast, and the podcast innovator award. For podcast nominees include Dirty John, Atlanta MonsterJoe RoganRadiolabHardcore HistorySerial, Stuff You Should KnowSlow BurnThe Habitat and The Daily.

Voting opens Oct. 22 on the iHeart Podcast Awards website and via social media through Jan. 6. The show will take place in front of a live audience Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. PT. Information about how to stream the show will be available at a later date.
