Society thinks that when a woman gets old, then she doesn’t deserve to leave like the way she ways. Her life starts to end; she can’t have name and fame. But Jennifer Lopez proved it wrong. This stereotyping needs to be done.
“It was important as a woman to do that; to let people know that you don’t get to write women off at a certain point in their life.”
JLo is a mother of two kids, and she has three unsuccessful relationship cum marriages in her byline. But despite all that, she is a talented actress who is singing and dancing for more than 30 years.
This summer, she turned 50, so she decided to celebrate her 50th birthday by starting a 38-country world tour named as “It’s My Party”.
She revealed in her Vlog that many of her fans and followers didn’t understand why she celebrated her birthday and even why she highlighted her age. She was supposed to hide it as normal women do.
“Everybody thought I was crazy when I wanted to go out and let everybody know that I was 50. But for me, it was important.”
“It was important as a woman to do that; to let people know that you don’t get to write women off at a certain point in their life,” she continued. “You don’t get to write people off.”
Lo also said,” she didn’t realize that being her unapologetic self, embracing her age, and continuing to live her dreams would mean so much to so many people.”
JLo came to the main point at the end of this Vlog with words: “You’re getting better and better as you go, so long as you are open to the experience of growing and evolving.”
Fact is that she is absolutely right; society needs to change the way they look at women. There is no shame in disclosing your real age. If they think that a woman of a certain age can’t do something because she is older, then they are the ones who need to be ashamed, not that woman.
