On Tuesday, it has been declared by the Rijksmuseum that the “Night Watch,” will be restored. Since for the Dutch people it worth a lot as the monumental group portrait is holding pride of place in the Dutch national museum over here.

For a couple of years, the restoration will last. However, it would be on display in the Museum Gallery of Honor. in this way, the public would also be able to see the process.

The museum’s director, Taco Dibbits in an interview marked this process as a “huge undertaking” whiles the Rijksmuseum’s “biggest conservation and research project ever.”

He related this restoration to frescoes of Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel in the Vatican restoration. Although he didn’t mention the associated costs for renovation but notified it as “millions over at least several years.”

“The restoration techniques we now have are so advanced that we will safeguard the painting for future generations,” he further added.

The painting needs a bit more TLC. Since the work done 40 years ago is going to be restored. So that it could be blanched on canvas different parts.

Dibbits also said: “We want to understand what that change is so that we can restore it as well as possible.”

In fact, “Militia Company of District II under the Command of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq,” the 1642 painting of Rembrandt is also unfortunately not restores since 1976. As it was even attacked by a visitor with a bread knife. So two-foot-long jabbed knife left a mark on the surface, ending with a seven-foot-wide hole that ripped from a section of the canvas.

Dibbits also mentioned that the museum restored while retouching the painting’s surface. But now fewer retouchings are turning pale so they require a re-doing. Also, with the passage of time, the bottom left of the painting is blanching.
