Hygiene is one of the most important parts of anyone’s image, especially when it comes to first impressions. When you enter a room of people, you’ll more than likely leave an impression before you even say a word. First impressions are most often based on physical appearance: hair, odor, clothing, and even how you carry yourself.
To elevate my image, I’m making sure to buy all the right soaps, shampoos, colognes, and even laundry detergents. It’s important to find the right smell that matches your wishes, like oak for an outdoorsy person or mint for a more sophisticated man.
Every time I walk into a room, I want my impression to be positive and memorable. It doesn’t matter if I’m going to a job interview or a low-key social event!
Start Wearing More Suits
Generally speaking, the better you dress, the better you feel about yourself. You don’t need to wear suits every day, but you should wear them to more serious environments—especially work—to look sharp and polished! Remember: you never know who you’ll run into on any given day, so it’s important to look your best when you’re out and about.
Dressing for success is a real thing! Sure, you can wear hoodies on lazy days at home, but if you’re going to the office or a particularly important social event, make sure to dress the part. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression!
Now, I’ve started wearing suits more regularly, and have even gotten a few tailored. I’m a firm believer that everything looks better when you wear it right, and that means suiting up!
Groom and Trim Your Hair Properly
Grooming is one of the most important ways to improve your image. It not only makes you look great but boosts your confidence and helps you feel incredible on the inside. The key is to find the right hair for your head, and that means experimenting! Of course, you can never really go wrong keeping your hair short, but you could switch things up with an undercut. For me, getting the best hair was a matter of trial and error until I found the most striking style.
On the topic of hair, never neglect your beard! Make sure that your facial hair fits your facial structure. For example, you shouldn’t grow a mustache that covers your whole face if you don’t have the face for it in the first place.
Many men grow beards and mustaches just to hide their faces. In fact, I used to do this until I got a male facelift. I’d started noticing all sorts of wrinkles and droopy skin but decided to fight back against the signs of aging. I couldn’t be happier with my choice!
Always Pursue New Hobbies and Adventures
Being an interesting person begins with having a long list of interesting hobbies. It’s important to constantly challenge yourself!
For instance, I used to be a huge chess fan, and even signed up for a few classes to improve my game. But once things weren’t challenging anymore, I moved on and pursued other interests, namely photography. Nowadays, I take expert photos of my family and dogs and post them on my Instagram account.
I’m already thinking of what hobby to pursue next. Maybe I’ll try my hand at learning a new language or pick up a new instrument. Perhaps I’ll take up woodworking or pottery. Whatever I decide, I know that it’ll make me happier!
Take it from me: it’s never too late to try something new. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and be a little adventurous—you never know what you might find. Besides, it keeps you interesting!
