Ghostbusters Prequel 1969

As we know that new Ghostbusters sequel is going to hit the cinema on 10 July 2020. However, what we didn’t realize until today that Dan Aykroyd has written ghostbusters Prequel Series.

Ivan Reitman –director of original Ghostbusters, teamed up with co-writer and co-producer Dan Aykroyd in past when we got an official announcement of Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. They started a production company named Ghost Corps. The purpose of this company is to handle different projects related to Paranormal investigation. We heard about many projects later, but none of them hit the cinema.

Back when Ghostbusters: Answer the Call was first announced, it was revealed that the original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman and co-writer, co-producer, and star Dan Aykroyd were teaming up to start a production company called Ghost Corps. That would focus on developing projects with different takes on the paranormal investigator franchise. Also, while we’ve heard of a handful of possible projects in the years since then, none of them have gotten off the ground.

As far as Ghostbusters sequel is concerned, its story will start a few decades after the events of two movies in the original franchise. Jason Reitman is the director of an upcoming ghost film. We have to see how the characters will look in their future.

Dan Aykroyd is working on a Ghostbusters Prequel which will take us to the teenager ears of the film characters: Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, and Ray Stantz.

Aykroyd revealed information about prequel while he was on a promotion tour of his Cyrstal Head Vodka in Canada. He told that the prequel would go back to the early years of Ghostbusters.

“I’ve written “Ghostbusters High,” where they met in New Jersey in 1969 and we’re looking to do that as probably a glorified feature or pilot within the next maybe five years…. Moreover, it would lead to a television project, and I thought of him immediately for that.”

It seems that Aykroyd has an intention to hand over prequel project to s Jason Reitman, as soon as he completes new Ghostbusters sequel.

“It’s on [Reitman’s] desk, but that’s years away from the current project. However, it’s a neat idea for a prequel. Imagine casting the three characters as teenagers!”

The idea of bringing teenagers to prequel is not new. Finding the characters which showcase the personalities of original Ghostbusters movie character is a tricky task.

The story of the prequel is not final at this moment, in any case. Aykroyd said,

“We have at least one or two other concepts for the Ghostbusters, and then we’ll look at doing the prequel, which will be a perfect button on all we’ve done up to that point.”
