Julie Chen is leaving her hosting gig on CBS’s ‘The Talk’ but she will continue to host the ‘Big Brother’. She says that she ‘needs to spend more time at home with her husband and their young son’.

After ten days of resignation of her husband, ex-CBS CEO Les Moonves, Chen announced on Tuesday. CBS forced Moonves to resign amid several allegations of sexual harassment and assault against him.

“I have been at The Talk since the day it started nine years ago, and the cast and crew have become family to me over the years,” Chen said in a taped message.

“But right now, I need to spend more time at home with my husband and our young son. So I’ve decided to leave The Talk,” she continued.

There were already some online reports and speculations which were circulating about her leave when the longtime moderator Chen was not present a few days ago at the premiere of ‘The Talk’ season 9.

“Continue to host the Big Brother”

On the hand, TMZ has learned that she will continue to host ‘Big Brother’. The website reports that CBS hasn’t asked her to leave and she doesn’t want to go.

Carrie Ann Inaba May Be New Host

Chen also hinted in her message about a new host, “Carrie Ann, I don’t know but in my opinion you look awful good sitting in that chair, my Asian sister. Just saying”.

CBS Reaction

“For eight seasons, Julie Chen has co-hosted The Talk with incredible energy, grace and professionalism,” CBS said in a statement. “Her talents played a big role in our successful launch of CBS’ first network daytime talk show, and in the series growth into an Emmy Award-winning broadcast.”

“We are grateful for her many other contribution, respect her decision and wish Julie all the best in everything she does”, the statement said.

Julie Chen Husband Les Moonves Resignation

On September 9, CBS forced Les Moonves to resign after six more women came forward to accuse him of harassment and assault, following initial sexual misconduct allegations from six women in July.

“Untrue Allegations”

68-year-old Moonves, whose net worth is US$800 million, has repeatedly denied the allegations against him. “Untrue allegations from decades ago are now being made against me that are not consistent with who I am,” he said in a statement released when he left CBS. “I am deeply saddened to be leaving the company.”
